The trek to Gokyo is an alternative to the more common walk to Kalapatther and offers tremendous views of Everest and several other Himalayan giants. The trail begins at the airstrip of Lukla and after passing through the Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar, it turns west at Phortse to follow the Dudh Koshi upstream to Machherma and on to Gokyo. The route continues alongside the Ngozumpa glacier, the largest in Nepal. There are several lakes in the area and pastures surrounded by stone walls. From a ridge above Gokyo lake, incomparable views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu can be had. We return via Namche Bazaar to Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu.
Namaste ! Kindly accept heartily greetings from the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal.
