The trek to Gosaikund is both a scenic walk and a pilgrimage. The trail lies south of the main route to Langtang. We drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (117km) passing Trisuli Bazaar which is the site of a major hydroelectric power station. From here, we walk to Sing Gompa and on to Laurebina to reach Gosaikund. As the trail climbs, there are great views of the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and other peaks. The Gosaikund area contains a cluster of three lakes, Gosaikund being the largest. Holy men and other pilgrims make the journey to worship at the lake and bathe in its waters. It is believed that the water from Gosaikund lake disappears into an underground channel and comes out at Kumbheswar pool in Patan near Kathmandu. From Gosaikund, we return to Dhunche for the drive back to Kathmandu.
Namaste ! Kindly accept heartily greetings from the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal.
