This is a shorter version of the Upper Dolpa trek, but it has all the excitement and scenery. We make a counter-clockwise circuit beginning and ending at the airstrip of Jufal with Lake Phoksundo at its top. The trail heads east from Jufal along the Thulo Bheri river to Dunai and on to Tarakot where it turns north to follow the Tarap Khola river upstream. Lying near the head of the windy Tarap Khola river valley, Dho is a large village and its monastery and chortens provide an interesting interlude. From here, we climb past barley fields and scattered villages to Tokkyu which lies at the uppermost end of the valley. The top of the Numa-la pass offers a sweeping vista of the Dhaulagiri massif and surrounding valleys. We cross another pass, Baga-la, to arrive at the village of Ringmo which is situated at the southern end of Phoksundo Lake. The trail then follows the Suli Gaad river south past Chhepka to Dunai from where we walk to Jufal for the flight back to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu.
Namaste ! Kindly accept heartily greetings from the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal.
